When a person decides to follow Christ, it is usually during the darkest point of their life when they realize their need for a Savior. This decision leads to the promise of an “abundant life,” where they experience perfect peace even amid turmoil and sadness and a supernatural ability to find joy. Choosing to follow Christ is the greatest gift one can receive, and it doesn’t end there. The Holy Spirit accompanies them on this journey, sending people to guide and mentor them. The Church provides a community of Christian brothers and sisters that support, strengthen, and equip them to serve God and their neighbors with a love that can only come from a heart on fire for Jesus.
It’s not much different when a mom chooses life for her baby. When she arrives at the women’s clinic, she is usually at her wit’s end and spiraling with many thoughts and emotions running through her head. When she receives the news that her pregnancy test is positive, that can sometimes be one of the darkest moments as she grapples with what she thinks is her only way out. But then she hears the good news! She doesn’t have just one choice, and she isn’t alone when she makes the choice for life for her baby! The nursing staff equips her with education on her options, shows her the miracle of her baby through ultrasound, and offers to continue walking with her throughout her pregnancy, preparing her to be the best mom God designed her to be! Through mentorship and education, she realizes that motherhood, while challenging, can be a joy, and as she grows in confidence, she can look back to take the hand of another mom in the same position.
She can’t do it alone, though. The “now what” step takes a village! The mission of Hope House Women’s Clinic and Parenting Center is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and offer practical, emotional, and spiritual support to women and families experiencing pregnancy-related issues, considering abortion, or who have been impacted by abortion. With every visit, our team pours into them the love of Christ and encourages them as they enter parenthood, but when she leaves our clinic, she is going into a cold world that may even find her choice “irresponsible.” The Church has a responsibility to disciple these young mothers and show them who Jesus is not with mere words but with action. Every diaper that is donated and every prayer that is prayed helps bring hope for generations to come!
