Going Beyond Sanctity of Life Sunday

We’re better together.

Most women who come to the Hope House Women’s Clinic seeking help for their unplanned pregnancies profess to be Christian. In 2024, we found that over 71% of our moms shared that they were either Protestant or Catholic. However, many do not have a personal relationship with God or feel comfortable in church. Typically, women who are faced with an unplanned pregnancy would rather not talk about their circumstances with their pastor or church leadership. Because of perceived shame and condemnation, abortion seems to be the best option for some. They are clinging to the fear of what others may think of them and that their lives will come to an end when faced with the prospect of telling their parents and loved ones.

Our prayer every day at the Women’s Clinic is for fear to leave and be replaced with God’s overwhelming peace. We want every family we serve to have an opportunity to be met first by God’s presence and for our staff and volunteers to be His ambassadors to dispel the anxiety surrounding their pregnancy. We are confident that because God loves life and offers abundant life to anyone who believes, choosing life for their baby is the best decision they can make.

An unplanned pregnancy is just that – unplanned. Nobody puts that in their 5-year plan. When it happens, many women feel helpless, scared, and unsure of where to turn. Abortion Clinics are aware of this fact, so they pour a lot of money into advertising their services to vulnerable women anywhere they think they may see it. I have heard over and over again from post-abortive women that if they knew that the pregnancy center existed and that they were a free and safe resource for them, they would never have had the abortion.

Church, we can do better.

Our families need to know where to turn when they are faced with an unplanned pregnancy. Our congregations also need this information to be ambassadors and lead their community to the hope and help our Women’s Clinic provides. Your support is crucial in ensuring that no woman feels alone in her journey. Many church members and pastors are unaware of our services, so we must get the word out so that families know where to go and what to expect!

As we observe Sanctity of Human Life Sunday this week in our churches, a day dedicated to celebrating the value of every human life, let’s equip every congregant with a clear message that the church is a safe place to turn and about the life-saving resources available at the Hope House Women’s Clinic. Let’s go beyond Sanctity of Human Life Sunday and celebrate life every day!
