At the Serenity House candlelight vigil, surrounded by stories of heartbreak and hope, one piece of art stopped me in my tracks. It was simple—just tiny baby footprints stamped in bright white against a deep black canvas. But the contrast took my breath away. Each print resembled a small flash of light breaking through the darkness.

Knowing that this was created by a child currently staying at the shelter made it even more powerful. Those tiny feet have already walked through more than many of us ever will, yet here they were—leaving marks of pure, undeniable light.
It reminded me of the important work we do at Hope House Women’s Clinic. Every life, no matter how small or challenged, leaves its footprint. Some footprints are fragile, some are brave, and some, like these, shine even in the midst of darkness. This artwork captured that truth in a way that words often struggle to convey.
Because of its simple yet powerful message, I knew I had to purchase it. It now hangs on the wall at Hope House Women’s Clinic, where anyone who walks through our doors can see it and be reminded that even in the darkest places, light continues to find its way—one tiny step at a time.
