Close your eyes and imagine that you’re 17 years old. You’re in the middle of your senior year of high school with your whole life ahead. You have a lot going on in your life, including your friends, school, scholarship applications, football games, band practice, and family obligations. However, you have hit a wall. You’ve missed your period.
Every day, young women facing an unplanned pregnancy feel trapped and afraid. Many of them don’t know where to turn. They can’t muster the courage to tell their parents right away, and many want the “problem” to disappear, so they search for abortion services. However, they may not understand fully what that decision entails.
Pregnancy Centers, like Hope House Women’s Clinic, provide essential and professional care to vulnerable women and youth at NO COST. Services include:
- Pregnancy testing.
- Options consultation (including education on parenting and adoption, parenting and child raising, and abortion)
- Medical services (early obstetrical ultrasounds, medical exams, STD testing and treatment, and increasingly other health services)
- Prenatal and parenting education
- Material assistance
- Sexual risk avoidance education
- After-abortion recovery support
- Referrals for medical care
- Linkages to vital community and public health resources
Trained workers and licensed professionals provide care through a holistic health paradigm, considering emotional, social, mental, spiritual, and physical health. By providing practical assistance and links to needed resources, pregnancy centers improve health outcomes for women and promote health and well-being for themselves, their children, and their families.
When that young woman comes to our center, she will receive compassion, care, and professionalism as we walk her through her options and share the truth in love. We aim to help her relax and share her concerns with our trained staff. Through the services we provide and the encouragement she receives, she will have the clarity she needs to make a good choice.
